The Reflect phase is at the centre of the Classroom Action Research process and is an integral component of each of the other phases. You and your partner discuss your choices and your actions while still working toward your common goal. Purposefully taking the time to pause and reflect throughout your collaboration helps you gain a deeper understanding of how your decisions impact student learning and your professional practice. Consider the following questions to help you reflect throughout each phase:

  • What is working best? What is not working as well? How do you know?
  • What changes and adjustments do you need to make?
  • What are some unexpected outcomes or moments of insight?
  • What are your next steps?

Using these questions, you reflect, share and exchange with your partner. These ongoing reflections throughout the phases, can provide you with a different perspective and help you gain deeper insight into what is taking place. These discussions lead you to make joint decisions on how to move forward.
